I’ve just started an eight week e-course called Unravelling: Ways of Seeing Myself. It involves taking lots of photographs based around themes and writing a kind of journal along the way.
I’m really excited about this adventure now that I’m over that little ‘guilt’ thing that I think is all too common in women when they take some really important ‘me’ time.
Doing such a course, online, is totally new to me and so it’s with some apprehension, as the course begins this week, that I’m asking myself ‘Why are you doing this?’ ( It’s usually a good idea to know why you’re doing something isn’t it?)
Well, I guess there are lots of different reasons but the two special ones are that -
I’ll be able to pursue my love of photography with weekly topics thoughtfully designed by Susannah Conway. It’s not a photography course as such but rather a way of using the images I take as tools to ‘unravel myself’.
The other reason for becoming an unraveller is that doing Susannah’s course will prompt me to keep trying new things, learning new skills in this amazing technological world of computers and the internet. A few years ago I would never have imagined myself with a website and exploring all these opportunities.
Apparently there are 150 women from around the world who’ll be unravelling with me as we share our thoughts and photographs each week.
I’ll keep you posted and at the end of the course I let you know what I think of the whole experience of unravelling … you may be keen to unravel too!
