This is what can be wonderful or soooooo frustrating about being on ‘the web’. One minute you’re looking up something quite specific, a link catches your eye along the way and before you know it … an hour, or two, has gone by and you’ve travelled heavens know where! You’re left truly fascinated by what you’ve found and/or very frustrated: ‘did I just spend an hour and a half doing that?’
Such happened to me yesterday when I received an email from the Royal School of Needlework. This is where I dream of going to do a class in needlework, any needlework. (I loved calling into their centre at Hampton Court Palace near London during the year where I bought the closest I know I’ll ever get to a class -Â a tiny pomegranate kit to sew)
Anyway, there in the email from RNS was a link to the official Royal Collection, because members of the society worked on Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress. Then I remembered the little post I did on the wedding cake maker Fiona Cairns …. when it was first announced that she had the honour of making the cake. I know that for me it’s all about things made by hand – wedding dresses, wedding cakes – whatever!
Well, here is the finished royal wedding cake and what a creation! Whilst you’re there follow the link (at the top of the page) to view Catherine’s wedding dress, hand made shoes …
See, before you know it you’re following links and off like Mr Toad in his new motor, so be mindful …
