little things can give delight

This miniature DMC sampler took me a couple of hours to sew the other day. (It’s for my daughter to hang in her kitchen) The pattern came from a DMC booklet I bought at a needlework store some time ago now

I love the feel of needle and thread; the choosing of colours so visually rewarding; creating a whole new object that didn’t exist a few hours ago … amazing when you think about it.

I don’t need to finish any project to feel intense satisfaction in the ‘doing’ – my cupboard of unfinished sewing projects is testament to that! – suffice to say that I have observed in ‘the doing’ moments of pleasure, frustration, meditation, challenge, joy … bit like life really
