What exciting news for Rachel Grisewood!
The publishers, Allen and Unwin have just announced that her cook book Manna From Heaven has won the Best Innovative Food Book category in The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. The winners from each country now compete in this category for the title ‘Best in the World’ which will be announced in Paris in February 2010.
I know that when I interviewed Rachel recently she spoke about this, her first cookbook and what it meant to her to share the recipes as part of her life with family and friends. The book ‘zings’ with colour and enthusiasm for food and cooking - ’it’s all about cooking for people you love.’
You may have read my post on The Blue Ribbon Cookbook by Liz Harfull which was world runner-up in The Easy Recipe Book category of the Gourmand Awards in Paris in 2009. Isn’t it great that Australia produces such wonderful cook books? I was reading a newsletter from book sellers in New York last week where they lamented America’s poor contribution to the genre compared to Australia and elsewhere.
I’ll keep you posted on Paris in February but in the meantime I’ll be posting my interview with Rachel soon so keep an eye out for it …
