Congratulations to Ronni Kahn, Founder of OzHarvest!

I’m delighted, although somewhat belatedly, to note the wonderful news that Ronni Kahn is Australia’s Local Hero for 2010. The award was announced at the Australian of the Year Awards on 25th January in Canberra. I was incredibly excited when I heard the news from readers of WomensNook.

(I’m on a road trip through France and not only do I not know what day it is, I’m also finding it hard to keep track of news and post my stories on schedule as internet access is not always available just when I would like it to be …)

Anyway, have you had a chance to read my interview with Ronni? I chatted with her last year and amongst the many things she shared was her story of how she came to rescue so much good food from absolute waste - landfill, actually - and started redistributing it to the many charities around the Sydney region.

Ronni is one of the most generous, warm and caring women I’ve ever had the privilege to meet and I congratulate her on gaining such recognition for her good deeds to the so many who are less fortunate.
